Not Benalmadena - more Nerja again!

  • Buenas Dias Costa Women,

We had been looking forward to a sojurn in Benalmadena this year as a change from Nerja, which we have visited a few times to escape the chills of the British winter.

Again we opted for Saga Holidays and had planned to possibly hire a car and explore the that area of Andalucia more; perhaps re-visit Ronda, which we last visited in 2001 on our Honda Gold Wing motorbike during our Andalucian Adventure.

Unfortunately, Saga did not - in this instance - live up to their reputation in respect of hotel description and suitability. To cut a long 'saga' short we found quite late in the day that

    • a)  there was an Annexe with twenty steps  along from Reception - but we managed to get a guarantee on a room in the main building or cancel - and
    • b) that there were an additional  sixteen steps out of the hotel down to the promenade. The alternative was along the road out from the street at the back (4th floor) led around and down a slope of four floors worth and sixteen steps worth to the promenade. The same uphill again!

This rendered the hotel totally unsuitable for various reasons. So, at this late day we got a transfer to the Marinas de Nerja about a mile out of Nerja along the sea or road, which we know is totally flat. The included trips are the same and include Granada, Lecrin Valley, Orgiva and Almunecar.

I see that there are members in some of these areas.

We will be in Nerja for four weeks from the middle of November so if any of you Costa Women want to meet up I would love to connect.

We know Andalucia quite well and drew on the many trips we have been on, as settings in my debut fiction novel ORANGES: A Journey. (Charlotte and Daisy found lots of oranges ripening in the winter sun.

Enjoy the Andalucian sunshine ladies - it is dull her in North Wales today.
