QUAD BIKING TOURS IN SPAIN, HORSE RIDING IN SPAIN, ACTIVITIES AND THINGS TO DO IN SPAIN

  • When we first came to live in Spain, in our area of the Costa Blanca,  there was the beach to visit and apart from the Big water parks, that was about it!    With children of our own, we realised that there was a demand for family entertainment and activities,  so went about creating  our own little piece of paradise and run a very successful Outdoor Activity Centre, known as Now, Casa La Pedrera, The Grand Design House & Outdoor Activity Centre.   We now cater especially for families and  have a whole host  of activities for all ages and abilities to enjoy.

The problem is, that years later, people still think that there is only the beach, bars and booze, but if they were to venture, just slightly inland, there is another world to enjoy and explore, but most do not even realise that we exist.  So here I am, ready to share what we have with the world, and hopefully more people will discover what we do and make their holiday, even more special!

The most popular activity are our quad bike tours.  We are unique in that we cater for all ages, as the excursions take place within the Reserve, which is privately owned, so NO  licences are required.   That means, that teenagers, are able to enjoy an  off road adventure on their own quad bike. Depending on experience, there are numerous trails, from gentle inclines and winding paths through orchards & almond groves,  to challenging drops in unspoilt,  rugged terrain.  The views are spectacular, from the distant mountains of Espuna, to the beautiful blue lake, The Embalse de la Pedrera.

The next activity is horse riding and pony treks and again we can cater for the whole family as children as young as 3 years  can have a gentle ride on a Shetland pony.

Our gentle horses and ponies are suitable for any age or ability from the nervous novice  (1 hour trail) to the experienced rider (up to 2 hour trail).  On or off lead reign you will be able to appreciate the beauty of the area and meander amongst the rosemary and thyme strewn tracks around the beautiful ´blue´ lake.

For the experienced rider we offer a chance to trot and even canter in the school ring beforehand and depending on ability and appropriate clothing,  there will be a chance to trot on the trail. The scenery is breathtaking and the trails are within the reserve, are traffic free, so you can relax and enjoy the experience.

Other activities in this region of the Costa Blanca Spain that we offer  include kayaking, fishing walking and hiking, archery and even air rifle so there is plenty of choice.  After the excursions or activity you can even swim our fabulous pools which consist of slides, diving boards, one of which is 4metres!

If you however prefer a more laid back approach, there is a lovely tea garden cafe set within the grounds of the Grand Design property!  (So called as the building of the house was featured on the very popular Channel 4 Programme with Kevin McCloud, and has been shown and is still being shown to this day!)   The location is simply spectacular with fabulous views over the water and the mountains beyond.

The tea garden serves scrumptious cream teas and delicious freshly prepared lunches which are served inside the house in inclement weather or outside on the many terraces that overlook the beautiful lake.

There is also a craft shop, within the Grand Design House, with a fabulous selection of hand crafted item to take home as a souvenir or gift.

We also have a fantastic line up of events, especially through the summer which  includes  a Flamenco and horse show which combines the raw passion of flamenco with the strength and power of the Spanish Horses.  A truly remarkable experience!  If you have far to travel, we have accommodation on site in the form of a mobile home, or alternatively you can hook up a Campervan, caravan or Motorhome for a very reasonable 12.50 per night.

So all in all if you are on holiday, or live in the area and are stuck for things to do, make the trip, it will certainly be worth your while
