For those of you who were unable to make the talk and for those who would like a reminder, Here’s a brief summary on how you can use Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).

EFT is based on the discovery that: ‘All negative emotions are caused by a disruption in our body’s energy system’.


EFT is a simple yet profound therapy that you can use yourself on any number of everyday emotional and physical issues. While in the hands of an experienced therapist, you can resolve deep seated issues ranging from deep seated anxiety, physical and mental traumas, phobias, allergies, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), sexual and physical abuse, weight loss, addictions, depression, past life issues… As Gary Craig, the creator of EFT says, ‘try it on everything!’


How does EFT work? Using words or phrases to keep our mind focused on the problem, we gently stimulate specific acupressure points on the face and body by tapping them with our fingertips, to clear the disturbance and restore balance and well being.


After just a single round of tapping, which can take less than a minute, you can experience a significant reduction in the intensity of the emotion or pain. To eliminate it completely, just keep tapping!




Identify the problem / negative emotion / physical pain

Measure the intensity of on a scale of 0 to 10



THE SET UP PHRASE (Repeat 3 times)

Karate Chop point or Sore Spot

Tap on this point while repeating: Even though (then just name your problem / emotion / pain) followed by a positive phrase

This might be something along the lines of…

‘Even though I’m feeling so angry, I accept myself just as I am’

Repeat the set up phrase 3 times while tapping continuously on the karate chop point.

REMAINING POINTS (see diagram)

Start of eyebrow (closest to your nose)

Side of eye

Under eye

Under nose

Under mouth

Collar bone

Under arm

Top of head


Now tap on each of the remaining points while using a phrase that will remind you of the problem. Tap around 7-9 times on each one, no need to count, beginning at start of eyebrow and ending on top of head. You can use this as an opportunity to vent, especially for emotional issues, it’s a great way to stay focused on the issue and you are literally reminding your body what it is working on.

This might look something like this…

‘I’m so angry; how could he have said that; I just can’t believe he would do that; I’m furious; the ******; how could he; I’m just so angry; I’m going to explode’


Measure the intensity again on a scale of 0 to 10

And adjust your words to suit how you are feeling now


SET UP STATEMENT 2 (Repeat 3 times)

Karate Chop point

For example repeat 3 times:

‘Even though I’m still really annoyed, I accept myself and how I feel’



Repeat a phrase to remind you of the problem as it is now

‘I’m still annoyed; he really shouldn’t have said that; it’s just so annoying he does it every time; it really winds me up; I’m still annoyed at him; It’s still getting to me; annoyed; really annoyed’


EFT has been shown to work successfully with physical issues as well. The mind, body and emotions are all intimately connected, and so when we release negative emotion(s), physical symptoms very often just disappear. 



Workshops are an effective and affordable way to ‘borrow benefits’. While we may be tapping and repeating the words for another person, we benefit as well. We are all connected; our stories may be different, but we all share the same emotions! Workshops are a great way to increase your knowledge and gain confidence in your own way of working with EFT as you become proficient in the different techniques and the language patterns.  I do workshops on a whole range of topics: Abundance, Weight Loss, Forgiveness, Limiting Beliefs, Self Esteem, Relationship Issues



EFT is particularly effective for weight loss as it resolves the emotional issues that caused you to put on or retain weight in the first place. Once you have eliminated the causes, the weight just follows without the need for a specific diet or exercise programme. Issues of self esteem and body image are resolved as you come to a new appreciation of yourself and your body.


What would your life be like if you were able to release all the emotional issues from your past, the stresses and illnesses from the present and all your fears for the future?


With EFT, emotional freedom is a real possibility!
