Leaving her heart in Malaga, meet Ileana Rontea.  Ileana believes we should all come to the edge because then we can soar beyond our limits. Read her story.

Why Spain?

I fell in love with Malaga when I visited it in 2015. I met so many lovely women I stayed in touch with, loved the climate, the sea and the “feel” of Malaga. I relocated from Canada to Malaga in January 2016.

And where are you now?

Unfortunately, I am no longer in Spain. I now live in Malta for a variety of reasons, but a big part of my heart is still in Malaga.

Three top reasons to move there:

(1) the city is the right size for me, not too big, not too small;

(2) large community of expats, which makes integration easier;

(3) the many museums and art exhibitions available year-round.

What was the biggest challenge for your move?

When I first visited Malaga in July 2015, I didn’t know anyone. However, I went to a couple of Internations meetings and met kindred spirits there. I remained in touch with them on FB, starting my own small network, so when I moved six months later (on my own), I already felt somewhat connected. I continued to go to Meet Ups and other events to connect with others, and followed-up with those I felt I wanted to stay in touch with.

And of course Costa Women!

Do you have any advice for Women thinking about making the move?

Definitely go visit it first, have a list of criteria to check against, connect to as many people as possible while you are on the visit. Make sure the place you choose resonates with you in your heart, and feels right for you.

Has your move to Malta affected your business?

I am currently involved in an exciting Training Program (with my business partner in Canada) to help women overcome self-limiting beliefs, stop playing “small” and shine their light as brightly as possible.

We are taking this unique, brand new and transformational Program to European and North American clients who are willing to invest in their female staff members, at all levels.

You can find more information here.

Other than that, as a Life Mentor and Spiritual Guide, I have created a lot of original content on my website to assist women who are in transition and who are on the path of self-actualization.

On my website you will find blog posts, interviews with courageous women, as well as a youtube channel with other inspiring information.

Something you are grateful for?

I am grateful that the Empowered Women Now™ Training Program which launched on Tuesday, March 15th, when I will be training my first class of 16 women!

Who would be at your special dinner party?

I would have a large dinner party, hosting my friends from all over the world, over the span of a week. It would be incredible to have all of them in one place at the same time!

What’s your secret weapon or accomplishment?

Being able to connect with others quickly and authentically through the heart. It has made a huge difference in my life.

Do you have a favourite quote?

“Come to the edge," he said. "We can't, we're afraid!" they responded. "Come to the edge," he said. "We can't, We will fall!" they responded. "Come to the edge," he said. And so they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.”

This is my favorite quote because it reminds us that fear is what is keeping us from taking flight as empowered beings. It’s all in the mind which CAN be overcome.

One thing you had to bring to Spain and could never give away?

Photo albums from my childhood. My mom passed away in 2014, my dad is in a retirement home in Canada. Memories from my young life with my parents are a great treasure.

Do you have a favourite film?

“The Matrix” is my favorite movie because it woke me up to the possibilities.

Something you would tell your younger self?

Have faith in yourself and the Universe and most of all – love yourself!
