Having ‘hit the jackpot’ in Malaga, meet Janet Macaluso.  Janet has dedicated decades to learning what works so you don’t have to! Read her story.

Why Spain?

I’m from Boston in the USA which is lovely but cold. My friends and family fly south in the winter, to Florida, but we wanted a warm place with a rich culture. We hit the jackpot when we found Malaga.

And where are you now?

Malaga Centro Historico.

The location is home because of …

1.) The Ocean – it’s a short walk to the vibrant port and playas.

2.) The Action – it’s bustling with museums, restaurants, music, cultural events, mas!

3.) Location – the Centro is only five stops from the airport by train, with both city and nature close by.

What was the biggest challenge for your move?

We we not allowed to enter Spain for one year during the pandemic. But I still paid my mortgage and furniture storage while waiting to enter Spain from the USA (we didn’t have a visa at that time).

Do you have any advice for Women thinking about making the move?

When I worked in Switzerland, I would fly here on weekends to check out different neighborhoods. That was super valuable. So come for a few visits to see what areas resonate with you.

And, check out your desired location in the evenings and weekends – it can get noisy.

What do you get up to?

Just 1.5 years ago, I left my corporate job to start my Work From Anywhere (WFA) job of leadership coaching (with leadership hiking retreats in Spain).

I’m now spending a lot of time building this new online business. But my vocation is my avocation!

I love having the freedom to do work that resonates with my true essence. And I help leaders evolve from success to significance. They build their own legacy, to evolve their people, places and causes. ….

Other than a working on my start up business, I do yoga, learn Spanish and hang out in my new community!

Something you are grateful for?

I quit a secure executive role in business to build life-style business, so my business won’t run my life, as it did for 26 years working in corporate. I’m so grateful we were able to buy a home in Spain and to live a life more aligned with my core.

Who would be at your special dinner party?

Jesus, Mohammad and Buddha – I’d love to hear their perspectives and expect that they’ll say they’re more similar than different. Then I’d write a best seller book telling the world what they said about waking up, becoming conscious.

What’s your secret weapon or accomplishment?

About six years ago, I become deeply immersed in learning about a Regenerative, Living Systems worldview. It is now the foundation of my work and life. Living from Potential instead of existence! I’m really focusing on building consciousness. It’s very compelling for those professionals with a spiritual slant who want to do more and be more in the world.

Do you have a favourite quote?

My "Give-A-Damn Is Busted!" and "Get Curious, Not Furious"

One thing you had to bring to Spain and could never give away?

My electric toothbrush! If I don’t brush with it, my teeth feel like they’re wearing a mohair sweater!

Do you have a favourite book?

“Chatter” by Ethan Kross. I recommend it to clients, family and friends. The voice in our heads has a mind of its own sometimes!

Something you would tell your younger self?

Work on building an imperturbable State of Being at least as much as you work on your body and mind.
