Leaving her family in Sweden and deciding its time to take up a dare… meet Nina Nilsson. Nina believes you ‘take the risk, or lose the choice – you decide’.  Read her story.

Why Spain?

The climate, food and people. It is an easier life.

And where are you now?

Nerja. I live here and I have no regrets about my choices.

What was the biggest challenge for your move?

To not have my daughter close to me and my partner that still live in Sweden. My daughter is living her adult life with work and school. I see her every week via messenger and when I go to visit Sweden. My partner – well if it is a strong relationship we will manage it.

Do you have any advice for Women thinking about making the move?

Dare! Try it or you will never know. You can always move back but at least you have tried.

What are your goals for 2023?

I try to learn Spanish and I do something everyday to learn. I walk a lot, high or low. Conecting to new people is so important both for myself and for my small business. I work as a masseur, lymph masseur and reflexologist. I have a studio in Nerja but I do home visits and work on retreats.

Something you have achieved?

That I have dared. And it is working.

Who would be at your special dinner party?

My partner Rolf- I love him. My daughter Lova – she is my life. Cecilia – best friend. Annika – best friend. Sara-Maria – best friend. Isabelle- best friend. My Dad – I miss him so much. Sam Elliott – he is so good looking, would love to have a talk with him. Pink- love her music and her energy. Well those are some but I can name more!

What’s your secret weapon?

To do what I do and make it happen and work.

Do you have a favourite quote?

Take the risk, or lose the chance - you decide.

For me this speaks for itself.

One thing you had to bring to Spain and could never give away?

A bracelet my father made me – because he made it.

Something you would tell your younger self?

Follow your dreams.

Thank you Nina Nilsson where can we find out more?
