When I sat down to write this blog post, I asked for guidance from Spirit as usual and I got an idea to check the original meaning of the word “August”. According to the Merriam-Webster, “August comes from the Latin word augustus, meaning “consecrated” or “venerable,” which in turn is related to the Latin augur, meaning “consecrated by augury” or “auspicious” and the meaning of consecrated is “dedicated to a sacred purpose”.
Maybe you are already on your path to dedicate your life to your sacred purpose, maybe you are still seeking what it is, or maybe you have a faint idea but want more clarity. Wherever you are, ask yourself if you would you be willing to dedicate your life to your sacred purpose? Just observe what happens in your body, mind, and Soul when you even play with this thought. Pay attention what comes forward for you and you can write these thoughts down.
“Sometimes the grandiosity of our visions doesn’t match with our ability to do. So we fall short and then tell people the great vision and how we failed, usually managing to blame others in the process. Just forget about the failures and forget about the vision and do what’s in front of you. Your willingness will give you the ability.” -John Roger with Paul Kaye in Serving & Giving: Gateways to Higher Consciousness
Let me share with you a glimpse from my life what resonates with the above quote. When I was 16 years old, I got an idea to start karate and I signed up for a beginners karate course. As I was from a little village, I had to travel 30 kilometers twice a week to the nearest town by bus for my class. I started from zero. I had no prior experience and I was also challenged with the physicality of the practice. When my schoolmates found out about my new hobby, some of them made fun of me. I bit my lip and kept practicing each movement over and over again. I was willing to learn. Quickly I got a surprise as I was invited to train with the competition team. I kept going and made my way to the Finnish National Team.
During my competition career of ten years, I had my big dreams and I definitely experienced blood, sweat and tears (literally)! It felt painful to lose a match. There were moments when I just wanted to give up, there were moments when I wanted to quit, but I endured through those moments and I kept practicing. Somewhere along the path, I dared to start trusting that I have what it takes. My willingness to do gave me the ability to do and I got to celebrate several Finnish Championship victories and even European Championship victory in my karate style.
If you were your own hero, what action would you be willing to take today?
Challenge yourself to step out from your comfort zone. Focus on your willingness and remember that microscopic actions count too! Take that action however big or small!
It’s time for you to shine! You are your own hero!
With Love & Light,
Katja
