Costa Women Meet Maria Hayden

When you fall make it part of the dance, meet Maria Hayden. Since the move to Spain, Maria has found herself finding balance in business and life. Read her story.

Why Spain?

Short version….we departed Canada ready to retire early with a vision to assist a family and others in Mexico to create businesses for themselves. Then another opportunity presented itself.

We were then offered an opportunity to set up and run Pilates at a variety of Resorts both in Spain and in the Caribbean. Southern Spain check our boxes for what were looking for and without hesitation we arrived in 2022.

Shortly after arriving the deal collapsed and we settled into retirement which was very eye opening and yet BORING just the same. SOOO after enjoying retirement life and recognizing we have so much more to offer of ourselves we are now semi retired, training up Pilates Instructors, Business Coaching and …….

And where are you now?

So far we live in Estepona which we love the ease of travel to Marbella and Soto.

Estepona has a vibrant nightlife that fits my love of food and beach walks.

Additionally we are surrounded by places to walk, hike and swim.

What was the biggest challenge for your move?

Our biggest challenge was navigating how each family member integrated or didn’t with ease in to Spain.

Do you have any advice for Women thinking about making the move?

Write a list of “must haves” and “can’t stands” then make your choice.

Has your move to Spain affected your business focus?

As a lover of helping others find healthy choices in activities and food I am typically immersed in sharing my knowledge.

I am also an author with typically a few projects on the go writing specialized recipes, creating Pilates Teacher Training Resources and being active. I have clients both online and in person in Soto and Gib a few hours a week and looking to assist more.

I love a great restaurant, new place to travel or deep intellectual thought provoking conversation.
