The challenges of moving abroad for family left behind was something that Anella Hansen had to navigate. Now she is busier than ever helping people with ASD. She also supports her husband in his agency whilst she’s training to become a Clinical Hypnotherapist. Read her story.
Why Spain?
When I met my husband in 1980, his parents lived in Spain and he invited me down to meet them.
One day we were on the beach and we talked about how if we were still together when we got “old” we would settle here in Spain and live the rest of our lives under the southern sun and heat. So now I live here in Mijas with my husband and little dog Miss Sofie.
I work as an ASD Therapist and Healer on a daily basis and when there is time for it I help my husband, who is a real estate agent in his company Plexo Properties where I am a partner.
And where are you now?
Mijas is a nice town, it is a large municipality with many golf courses wherever you turn. Here it is cozy, a: – wonderful atmosphere, b: – happy, friendly people c: – and many good restaurants.
What was the biggest challenge for your move?
The biggest challenge, was getting our children to accept, that we were moving abroad. We talked about how there was actually no further to Spain than there was to Aalborg in Denmark.
Do you have any advice for Women thinking about making the move?
The best advice is – do it, just do it, and live your dream out whatever it is.
How do you fill your days?
I am not bored at all because at the moment my working week is spent practicing hypnosis on family and friends, as I am training to become a Clinical Hypnotherapist.
I am also working on a small book project that will help people with symptoms of ASD (anxiety, stress, depression).
I also help my husband when home showings have to be planned for Danes who would like to own a home or settle here on the sunny coast.
At the weekends it is about pure relaxation, family time and walks with Miss Sofie as well as visiting the surrounding area with its beautiful nature and the small cozy towns.
If you could accomplish one spectacular thing in one day what would it be?
Accomplishing my goal for the day!
Something you are grateful for?
The opportunity to help others get through everyday life despite their symptoms or suffering from ASD (anxiety, stress, depression).
Who would be at your special dinner party?
My wonderful family and my lovely close friends. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, because of her work to stop the bullying of children, and she is a woman with a bone in her nose.
Oprah Winfrey because she is a skilled, interesting business woman.
The Danish singer Christoffer to entertain us with his own songs, just because.
Jim Lyngvild Danish Storyteller, Designer, Entrepreneur, Photographer because he is unique.
What’s your secret weapon?
Time and presence.
What’s one mantra that you live by?
I am a powerful, successful woman who believes in myself, that's who I am!
One thing you had to bring to Spain and could never give away?
Pictures, letters and not least the memories of good and bad, because it has made me who I am
Do you have a favourite film?
