Pet Protection For your Furry Friends
Hi,  I would like to introduce you ta a great product – I have been using is on my dog Fenda and have noticed a difference between my two dogs. Pet Protector really does work as it prevents the nasty little beasties from attaching themselves to our pets when they are out and about.  There is a scalar wave that is built up around your pet which repels the pests. I have been using it on Fenda for a while and noticed that she is not scratching nor carrying in bugs in her fur.  On the other hand on checking the other dog which does not have pet protector we always find a tick or two which has attached itself during the walk.  Which is irritating for poor old Dylan. I would recommend you have a look at this product and see if you would be wanting it for your pet. I can get the discs for you.  For me, the cost of 55€ for a 4 year parasite free – non toxic way to keep pets clear is a great price. Because I shall be caring for 4 dogs I decided to go with this method of protection rather than spend hundreds of Euros per year looking after their pest products at 35€ a month for 4 dogs. Makes much more  financial sense too that 220€ per four years is an easy comparison, against 1680. for the medication over the four year period.  That is for the four dogs over four years. Also thebusiness opportunity makes sense too, because people are more concerned today than ever before about what they are doing to themselves as well as the environment and pets – so for me the option to share a great product – it is a single product which sells itself.
Transporting and Moving
way2gohire.comYOUR ONE STOP TRANSPORT SHOPUK: 0208 090 4292SPAIN: 965 79 46 82 Hi, I would love to share this company with everyone.  I am in the process of bringing my daughter and her two dogs down from the UK. I found this company on the Internet and I have found them really helpful. They had to put up with me humming and ahhing about what way I wanted to do it – whether self drive or chauffeur service. When I spoke with the lady on the phone she was really lovely and helpful.  She was understanding my dilemma and was kind enough to listen to my requirements in full. They are proving to be a great asset. So if anyone is looking for a good company that will bring down your pets, furniture or whatever and you do not want to drive down they can do it. They also offer a great deal for their Self Hire Van HIre. They go both ways – but we are using them just to bring stuff down.  They have a base in Malaga which makes it easy for us to return the self drives to them.  Near to the Malaga Airport. They also do full removals to and from Spain – UK. Give them a call – their rates are really good, I wish I had found them years ago when I was coming down here.  I paid over 6,000£ to bring my stuff here – it is going to cost a 1/3 of that to bring my daughter and her dogs and stuff down here.  So you learn from mistakes. I would highly recommend using their services.
What Spain owes to the Moors
One of the advantages of writing books about Spain is that you have a great excuse to trot about the countryside investigating things.  During the research for my novel THE SHINING CITY we visited Córdoba numerous times – not an arduous task and only two hours drive from Málaga.  We made three trips to Madinat al-Zahra (my husband wanted to know why I couldn’t get it all down the first time) and made a couple of visits to Bobastro and Ardales. 10th century Spain was a period in history that I knew very little about and I was fascinated to learn just how much Spain owes to the Moorish occupation of the peninsula, even down to everyday items.  It wasn’t just the type of food they ate that has been passed down but also the way they ate it: the Moors introduced menus and a series of different courses for each meal; they used tablecloths and cutlery and different plates for each dish.  Some of their dishes were cooked exactly the same way they are today.  There is a restaurant in Córdoba that has a lamb tagine on its menu that is identical to a 10th century recipe. For those of you that like churros, you’ll be interested to know that it was as popular then as it is now. The Moors were a nation obsessed with water and cleanliness and had not only ornamental lakes and fountains but public baths, individual latrines and running water to wash in.  They had an elaborate network of underground conduits for collecting rainwater from the courtyards and sewage from the latrines and kitchens. Society was divided along ethnic and religious grounds but it was more egalitarian than one would suspect.  There were four main divisions: the Arabs, the Berbers, the Muwallads and the Dhimmi (Christians and Jews).  The first three were all Muslim.  The Arabs made up a small percentage of the population but they were the ones with the power and they brought their language and culture to Spain.  The Berbers were from North Africa and they mainly lived in the countryside.  The Muwallads were Muslims of Iberian descent; they adopted the language and religion of the Moors and by 10th century there was very little distinction between them and the Arabs.  The last group, the Dhimmis was made up of Christians and Jews.  The Christians were numerous but the Jews only made up 5% of the population. Jews, Christians and Moors lived in harmony; they were all montheistic faiths, all people of The Book.  The Jews and Christians were not persecuted by the Muslims and could hold important posts in society and even in government.  It was a society with great social mobility and people could move from humble beginnings to positions of power.  Muslim men could even marry Jewish women, but not the other way round. Women too had more freedom than one would imagine; they did not have to cover their faces with a veil but wore a crocheted cap instead.  Many women were educated and worked as physicians, scribes and teachers.  Some were wealthy in their own right and set up endowments for libraries and schools.  They were often allowed to keep their own dowries and were allowed to inherit property.  Those of you who have read my book DAUGHTERS OF SPAIN will see how different this was from women’s position under Franco a thousand years later. It was a society that valued education and treated its scholars and artists with respect.  Córdoba in the 10th century had more than seventy libraries, fifty hospitals and some of the best universities in the civilised world.

European Green Party: “Citizens, your time is now!”
European%20Green%20Party%20in%20Fuengirola%2C%2024Apr2014.JPG Invited by Costa Press Club member Pia Bruun to discuss ‘What is the Green vision for the future of Europe?’ in Fuengirola’s Tetería La Rosa de los Vientos, former Irish Minister for Environment John Gormley and Fuengirola Green Party member Victor Blasco Iturralde gave a bilingual presentation acknowledging the many reasons behind citizens’ disenchantment with and downright apathy towards European institutions, but urging us all to become more involved with EU policies and processes as the only way to improve the situation. Filmed and questioned by Fuengirola TV exactly four weeks before European Parliament elections on 22–25 May, both descibed how austerity measures implememented over the last five years have seen greater numbers of voters opting for sustainable green policies as a route to economic growth under the new world order. “Look at the economic situation in Spain, Ireland and elsewhere,” said Mr Gormley. “Citizens want an EU that creates jobs. Referendums on EU membership — hotly debated in Britain, for example — are not the solution, we need to improve Europe by giving Parliament more power to create jobs for all our citiizens.”Having helped draft the European Citizens’ Initiative enabling up to a million of us to participate directly in EU policy development and launch our own initiatives, Mr Gormley highlighted Investment in a Green New Deal actions to fight climate change and reduce carbon emissions, explaining how the growth in green technologies represent genuine opportunities for innovation, job creation and economic growth. Watching a screening of Gormley’s documentary, “Creating a People’s Europe”, we see him standing in front of The Egg Communication Nest in Brussels, asking: “What type of Europe will it hatch?” View the film to hear a series of ordinary people and European Green leaders from several countries voicing their opinions on the shape of the post-election EU. Summing up the presentation, Gormley stressed the Green position: “It’s all about jobs We have big green challenges ahead!”European Green Party, http://campaign.europeangreens.eu“Creating a People’s Europe”, scripted and produced by John Gormley, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHZEpKR6_m4 The European Citizens’ Initiative, http://ec.europa.eu/citizens-initiative/public/welcomeThe Egg Communication Nest for EU media and marketing projects, http://www.eggbrussels.eu/en/about
New Yarns for Costa Del Sol
I have been making samples of the new yarns which I have recently received from the Uk and am really excited at how they are knitting up. Some are really like dolly mixtures with loads of different colours of varying shades which are really super to knit.  I have DK and 4ply which I have been working with. Busy knitting hats and bedsocks with them at the moment.  I have also been checking out the patterns they are a huge range of sizes as well as really classical and modern touches.   Just completed a beautiful hat with sequins and mixed colours it looks really lovely.   Love to share with you all. If you would like to see any and arrange a meeting of your friends to see them would be happy to come do a show and tell. Am hoping to put an order if for yarns to be sent to me by the end of May.  So if any one is interested do just give me a shout 952897862 or email me on suecaroline@hotmail.co.uk
