The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has announced the launch of the UK Nationals Support Fund to help UK Nationals living in the EU/EFTA to register or apply for residency in their host country, whether we leave the EU with or without a deal. Up to £3 million of grant funding will be made available for third party organisations to provide practical assistance to UK Nationals needing support in registering or applying for residency. This fund will complement the communication and outreach campaigns that our Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates are already running for UK Nationals living in the EU.
The grant scheme is intended to enable organisations to provide the practical support that some UK Nationals may need in order to navigate the changes in their residence status as the UK leaves the EU. These UK Nationals may, for example, be vulnerable, living in remote areas or in need of assistance in registering or applying for residency in the host language. Potential beneficiary UK Nationals are a diverse group and we have aimed to capture this important factor in the design of the fund.
Organisations with relevant skills and expertise will be invited to apply for project funding through a Call for Proposals that we plan to launch in September. You can find further information via the links below:
The fund’s Programme Team, based in London, will be running a series of webinars over the coming weeks to explain the fund to potential bidders. We would encourage you attend one of these events to learn more about the fund and how the process will be run. Details on how to join these webinars can be found in the links above.
This Fund is being managed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London. If you have any questions at this stage, please email UKNSF@fco.gov.uk.
