Ceramic tiles have left an indelible stamp on Andalusian culture for centuries – a fundamental feature of Spanish culture conjuring up images of undulating countryside, dancing horses and fiery flamenco.
Combined with a series of unusual Modernist themes, these artistic images have been committed to clay on countless colourful ceramic tiles adorning the home of artisan painters Dieter and Sigrid from Pictures On Tiles, Mijas Costa.
After visiting Valencia’s Ceramic Tile Fair many times, I wrote tips on kitchen and bathroom design for the UK Tile Association, opened the first trading day of an 8,000 sq.ft. tile showroom (photo available for a laugh!), and ceramic tiles featured in my first Costa del Sol article.
