He is old, shabby and drags his feet,
looking around outside his care home,
he smiles as I wave my hand and speak the words Hola!
but I sense his wonder of ‘who is she?’
AND what has happened to me,
feeling ALL ALONE.
I like to imagine he is taken good care of,
laughs and has fun with familiar faces
BUT I don’t hold my breath as I know
we’re all on a tight budget and schedule,
not even enough time for ourselves
never mind our elders, our LOVED ONES.
Remember? The ones who nurtured us
or at least tried the best they could
dressing us up, feeding us,
making us laugh, teaching us about the world
working to make a comfortable home,
AND a hug before tucking us up in bed.
I know our elders felt honoured playing their roles
as guardians, homemakers and breadwinners
but life evolves and roles change,
children grow up and move away
we become slow and seemingly useless,
put aside and left to our own demise
We have shared many lifetimes together… yet
we don’t seem to understand the SEED OF LOVE
we are each given to nurture as our own,
to care and honour ourself & each other
as the embodiment of love, each truly is
appreciating… giving loving attention…
infinitely… completely…

I find myself looking deep into life, feeling the sadness as to how we all treat ourselves and each other… I can even sense how most of our children feel lost, having no leadership or hope.
This brings me into an empty space around me, where it is easy to wish I was busy elsewhere, with others… doing anything other than feeling lost and lonely among my fellow men.
Then I REMEMBER to take a deep breath, open my heart to receive the core of me… the essence of love… the IAM presence that is within me and each living creature… connecting us all together. I expand my consciousness infinitely within and around me… expanding as big as the Earth and beyond and allow the love that IAM, the old man and each lost and lonely person is, to embrace us all.
I feel the emptiness of my being changing into a vibrant rainbow of love that reaches far and wide, touching each body and mind… igniting our seeds of love… and feeling glimmers of hope and compassion, as feet skip with renewed vigour, moving gently forward with a passion… bringing each other together… like never before. AND so it is.
