Advice about Moving to Spain as a UK National after Brexit

Many of you have been asking about the situation moving to Spain from the UK post Brexit.

There is very little information about the new requirements since 31st December. Is it too late to get your residency under the transition agreement if you were living in Spain before 31st December 2020? You have decided to move post 1st January 2021, what do you need? What happens if you have a holiday home, how long can you stay in Spain? What’s types of residencia are there available for you?

Our Sponsors, My Lawyer in Spain shared their advice as part of A Place In The Sun webinar along with Charmaine Arbouin, the British Consul for Andalusia, Canary Islands, Ceuta & Melilla and Brett Hansen of Blevins Franks.

 1. It most certainly was. Thanks again. Have just seen your latest video on you tube too and didn’t realise that you couldn’t remote work (on a uk business) either having a non-lucrative visa (although this makes sense). At this stage I’m not sure if I’ll have the required (just under) €55k after year one for the following 2 years either .... determined to come over but lots of hurdles at the moment 🤔

 2. I feel for you Keli - the new rules and requirements are not 'new world' friendly. Maybe as Alex said there will be a move to the Norwegian model - we wait and see x

 3. I think I missed the part about the Norwegian model and I’m unsure what that is. I’ll go and research.... hopefully things may change as if it stands realistically I’ll need €80k at the start of my journey (which isn’t really feasible) .... off to find a winning lottery ticket 😂
