Stay in your lane – it’s where the real action is. It’s where the real thinking is and where the real intentions are. Straying out of your lane into another ensures the risk of colliding with those who have their eyes fixed on their own road ahead. It’s a lot less enjoyable journey. Staying in your lane is where you are in charge of your speed, your direction, your signals and your overall journey. It’s what you can control. There is plenty in your lane to focus on. It’s easy to get very caught up in other people’s lanes. We peer over the white line and comment on how they are driving their life. We make up stories about how they are driving with the intent to put us off and run us off the road! Even if we wanted to get into their lane and show them how to drive, we can’t.  There is no room for two! But enough of the driving metaphors. Staying in your lane is a phrase that just says ‘mind your own business’ a defensive rebuke handed to us when we have overstepped the mark into another lane that isn’t ours. But minding our own business is not only staying out of someone else’s lane, it’s focussing on our world and controlling what we can and not trying to control what we can’t. It’s about our circle of influence. Our circle of influence. Knowing what we can control by living within our circle of influence brings a feeling of relief. When we pull back and drop thoughts about controlling others, giving unwanted advice, opinions, judgements, all the should haves and all the drama, we feel so much lighter. The reward for staying in our circle of influence is clarity. Clarity about what we can do and what we can influence. We can see the clear road ahead and know that we only have our own thoughts, feelings and actions to take care of. This is our purpose. Managing ourselves. Yes, we can be entrusted to manage others, but we can never control what they think unless we have invested in some serious car (sorry!) brainwashing. We can guide and request of others. We can state assertively what we want in the understanding that others have the same permission. They too have their own circle of influence. We can meet people where they are, at the edge of their circle and we at ours. It’s where the win-wins happen. Traffic reporting We can choose to report on the traffic in the other lanes if we want to: he said, she said, they did, or I can’t believe they did etc etc. A constant stream of commentary about how others are managing their traffic in their lanes! Traffic reporting is good when it is alerting others to real dangers and circumstances, not imagined ones. A wonderful quote that I came across recently was that giving advice was akin to our ego masquerading as God! We are not that but there is something in us that cant help giving advice, usually where it is not wanted. At the heart of it, when we are focused on others and what they are up to in their lane, we are not focusing on ourselves. I don’t know about you, but I have plenty of my own stuff to work on. On some days, my work is just getting back in my lane and concentrating on the road ahead.  When I have found myself straying across the white lines it usually doesn’t end well. What about you? As we adjust to life post-Brexit there are many things to consider, but if you need to move money abroad there is one particular change that it’s essential to be aware of.  The free movement of services came to an end at the close of the transition period, with service providers instead having to comply with the different rules of the EU member states in order to operate legally.  Of particular note to people making international money transfers is the fact that UK financial service firms lost their financial services passports on 1st January 2021.    What is a financial services passport?  Before Brexit the ‘passporting’ of financial services meant that firms were able to operate in the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) under a UK-based licence.  For example, a company authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK could use this licence to work with customers based in any other country in the EEA. However, as the UK has now lost these passporting rights, any financial services firm (including currency transfer providers) must have a valid EU licence if they want to continue working with customers in the EU/EEA.    The Royal Decree  On 29th December 2020 the Spanish Royal Decree-Law 38/2020 was published.  This Decree outlines measures for the adaption to the status of a third State of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland after the end of the transition period.  The Royal Decree came into force on 1st January 2021 and includes a specific section about financial services and how firms from that sector can work with customers based in Spain moving forwards.  According to the Royal Decree:  ‘From 1st January 2021, UK authorised entities will be subject to the relevant Spanish legislation and applicable regimes in respect of third country firms. UK entities will have to obtain a new authorisation to operate in Spain.’  The Bank of Spain (Banco de España) is the FX supervisory authority in Spain and can impose penalties on any currency providers who fail to comply with the decree in order to safeguard the interests of customers.     Understanding equivalence  You may have heard some discussions in the media about ‘equivalence’ – whereby the European Commission can open up market access for some UK-based service providers.  The European Commission can grant a country equivalence if it views the country’s laws as being similar in intent and purpose to the laws of the EU, but it can also withdraw equivalence on 30 days’ notice if the situation changes.  While this is good news for some sectors, financial services are subject to different equivalence regimes and the level of access offered is far narrower than passporting permitted.  It should also be noted that equivalence operates in fewer areas, covers fewer services and is less secure than passporting.  International currency transfers are one of the financial services not covered by equivalence, so the provider you use must still have a valid EU licence if you’re going to continue working with them.     What do you need to know?  Any currency transfer provider offering their services to customers based in Spain must be regulated by a relevant EU authority.  This information can be obtained from the Bank of Spain’s website (www.bde.es ) beginning at the following link –     Bank of Spain – Entities Registration List     If they aren’t licenced appropriately and in accordance with the Royal Decree they cannot renew contracts with existing customers or solicit new customers. They must also have concluded working with existing customers based in Spain by 30th June 2021.  If you’re using a currency transfer specialist to move money to or from Spain and they haven’t sent you any communications regarding a change of licencing post-Brexit, get in touch with them to find out whether or not they have a valid EU licence. This is a simple question and something they should be able to answer instantly.  As mentioned previously, this licence must be with a relevant EU-based regulator, like the Bank of Spain (Banco de España), and your provider should be able to tell you their licence number.   If your provider is only authorised by the FCA they will be unable to continue servicing your requirements from June (and should inform you of that fact) so you will need to find a new currency transfer company in order to ensure the security and continuity of your payments.  When switching providers find a currency company that is licenced to operate in Spain. You may also want to check things like their online reviews, whether or not they’ve won any industry awards and when they were established.  You may find that by moving providers you actually end up working with a company whose customer service and range of products is better suited to your needs, so start looking into your options now.    Residents of Spain choosing a currency exchange company post-Brexit If you don’t currently have an FX company to work with and you’re a Spanish resident please ensure you only enter into an FX agreement with an EU regulated FX company. As a Spanish resident you won’t be covered by the FCA or Bank of Spain post-Brexit if you enter into a new contract with a non-EU regulated company.

  AM I the only one who wonders how we have managed to move ourselves so far away from our original intention of experiencing being HumanKind, the kind Human? Isn’t that what all our lifetimes of duality have partly been about, to bring us individually to the knowing that we love to be free, to create, to be honoured, to be treated with respect and kindness, to be included, to be found equal and valuable in our own uniqueness?   As well as realising the importance of reuniting with our Divine Consciousness and remembering our own individual and powerful Sovereign Oneness, born in all freedom, love and joy! Remembering we are free to choose in each moment how we desire to create our reality, our community in all unity!  Yet it seems to me, too many are not interested in following their own Divine intuition and Human compassion for taking care of themself and another! Instead continue to follow the narrative of our leaders and doctors, and follow without question the majority! Wanting to fit in and be counted as the good guys and doing the right thing!   What about the people who can’t follow, for what ever reason? What happened to choice, to freedom, to caring and being inclusive?   IAM shaking my head as I see people’s choice not being honoured and it leaves me feeling sad to the fact we have forgotten to care about ourself and another and remember our intention to free ourselves this lifetime from years of slavery, abuse and separation! To remember our intention to evolve our Human Consciousness and embody Divinity here on Earth, to be able to live a life of harmony and unity together.   Thankfully I woke up many years ago to the game of duality we play, realising life is not about another knowing better than you or being responsible and taking care of you, but discovering you are quite capable of being responsible, caring and looking after yourself and you definitely know what is best for you! This insight gave me the courage to step out of the game and into my own power and freedom. Now it’s everyones else turn!   Everything is playing out as it should. Everyone has the opportunity now to wake up and not fall down the rabbit hole, a path where the intention is to overwrite Consciousness with Transhumanism… where the Human condition is developed by sophisticated technology, able to greatly enhance longevity, mood and cognitive abilities! Formerly living in Barcelona, meet new to Lanzarote, Ruth Westnidge.  Ruth is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, mother and lover of nature.     Ruth, why did you move to Spain? Having done the 20s mostly in London UK, I really knew it wasn’t for me forever. I loved the countryside in Spain, the weather, the slower pace, so many pluses that I moved to Barcelona in 2010 and stayed 10 years. Just moved to Lanzarote and again, loving the weather, the scenery and the laid back style.   Where are you based and why should we move there? Costa Teguise, Lanzarote. You should move here because the scenery is stunning, no high rise tourist hotels, you’re minutes away from the beach with the most amazing cobalt blue sea and yet you can still easily walk into the mountains.     What was the biggest challenge when you moved to Spain? First arrival in 2010: zero Spanish language and zero contacts. Literally. Learnt Spanish, joined some women’s networking groups like this, little by little met people and learned how to live and work here.   How do you spend your days? Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. Hiking in nature. Cycling by the sea. Hanging out with my best buddy, my 7 year old son.       Something you are grateful for at the moment? Grateful for all the people who keep in touch online and the lucky breaks I’ve had all the way through, there’s been a lot and a lot of people aren’t so fortunate, super super grateful.   If you arranged a dinner party, who would you invite?
